Part of me feels sorry for goldfish. I learned that they have a memory of 3 seconds. Can you imagine that? You couldn’t learn from your mistakes because you couldn’t even remember them. They can’t use their past to help improve their future. Think about how that would affect your life…
On the other hand, part of me is sort of envious of goldfish. Why? For the same reason: because their memory is only 3 seconds. They can’t dwell on their past. They have to live in the moment. Why? Because that’s all they have. Talk about carpe diem.
So, what do you think? Do you want to be a goldfish? Which would you rather be able to do, learn from your past or live in the moment?

Well this is just dumb b/c goldfish are way to puny for me to ever even fathom being a goldfish. I’m smart and stealth and I’d probably eat goldfish like well, like Pepperidge Farm goldfish or something.
I believe in living in the moment, not dwelling on the past, but certainly evaluating it to the extent that you can learn from mistakes to enhance the experience in the future.
Nice insight hombre!
I wish I had a 3 second memory every time I hit a golf shot… except for that one.
I once had a pet goldfish that committed suicide–he jumped right outta the bowl! guess it must have been a pretty rough 3 seconds
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind…if you had to forget all the bad of the past you’d have to forget the good. There are memories and moments I’d take a lifetime of pain to never forget (aw, that sounded like I’m really sweet…)
I wish i had a 3 second memory so I could forget your ego-driven comment
I wish I had a 3 second memory so every time I make fun of your gelled hair styles it would be like it was the first time.
I”ll be honest. I haven’t seen Eternal Sunshine. It’s on my to do list though, haha. I agree though, you have to take the bad to get the good.
Maybe that whole “sweet” thing is working out for you, haha.
