I’m Very, Very Sneaky

Welcome back to “Analogous Friday!” In case you’re new to the game, on Friday’s I pick a pretty awesome video I found throughout the week, post it on here, and come up with some elaborate analogy for how it can apply to us in the world of marketing, social media, and/or business in general. You can check out last week’s here.

In the spirit of NFL starting this week I’ve found this awesome trick play from a pop warner league. Watch, enjoy, and check below for what all this means!

Lesson #1: Creativity Pays

Not only does being creative make things way more exciting and fun, but a lot of times the results are way better than they would have been (just ask this team).

Lesson #2: Play Within the Rules

If you don’t play within the rules, any success you had is going to be negligent. Example, if this team had tried this trick play but made an illegal snap, their strategery would have been wasted.

There is your Friday pair of lessons from this week’s video. Do you have any to add? Do you have any examples for these lessons? Sound off in the comments!

I’m going to have to lock that in the archives, save it and eventually pull it out when coaching my unborn son in his pop warner football games.

Creativity is truly key. I spoke with the head of a creative team in DC a while ago and he said that he has people lining up around the block to work with his team because they have proven that they are among the leading innovators in their industry. They don’t have to sell their services anymore and they certainly don’t have to give discount prices. Meanwhile a company that does the same old thing, even if they do it superbly still has to sell from time to time.

The one problem here is that creativity might not last forever. At some point the ideation could run dry.

Oh, come on…there’s no pun on a QB-sneak here? It’s just begging for it, even if it isn’t totally creative!

I think one of the biggest parts to taking creative risk as this QB (and I’m assuming coach from the shouts of “Go go go” from the sideline indicate) is that you have GOT to be 100% confident and brazen in your strategy. If this player had faltered at all, had hesitated or had given up halfway thru the sneak the play would have been in vain.

Instead, we are left with footage of a brilliant, albeit sorta deceptively sneaky, youth football play. You think Brady is pulling this footage to watch for the upcoming season? :-D

Good point that not only does creativity attract business but it also makes people excited to work for you. Crispin is a great example. Few people make it big by copying what others do, you have to break away from the norm to leap past the competition.

Haha I was just leaving that open for someone else to point out! You win! I’m with you though, Elisa. You can’t kinda sorta try something this creative and pray it works. You have to commit to it all the way.

In regards to Brady, I can only hope he tries it multiple times, and fails every single time :)
